Funeral Services Held February 24th For Philip D, Martin, Drowning VictimFuneral services for Philip D. Martin, National Park Service Ranger who drowned in the Colorado River following a boating accident in the rapids just below Llt;ee’s Ferry on February 21st, were held Wednesday, February 24th, at the Community Building, Grand Canyon, Arizona with the Rev-erand James Kingsley officiating. Burial was in the Grand Canyon Cemetery.Eighty National Park Service men in uniform were present, forty-five of whom are trainees for the Park Service. Seven other National Park Service centers were represented. Many friends and relatives from southern Calif, were also present.Pallbearers were William Germeraad, Rodger Brask, Robert Scott, Chris Cameron, Ed Mazzer, and Don Jackson, all National Park Service men from Glen Canyon, and Don Pledger, a long-time friend of Mr. Martin’s and former room mate at the training center.Mr. Martin is survived by his widow, Carol Anne, and two sons, Richard, 4, and Ronald, 10 months, and by his mother of San Gabriel, Calif. Mrs. Martin will make her home temporarily with her parents at Yucaipa, Calif.
