Negro Cattle Thief j Gets Maximum Penalty1In a trial here Wednesday morning, Leon McAtee, negro of Goodman, was convicted of a cattle theft and sen-tenced to 6 months in jail and a fine of $500. County Attorney Pat Barrett prosecuted the case. It was said that the negro stole a yearling from W. A.1 Thomas, going on his premises where 1 he killed it and carried it off. Trial was j held before Judge G. D. McCaleb. In an I effort to break up cattle thefts, County I Attorney Barrett said that on all cases of this nature the maximum penalty I would be asked.
