Ieath of Mrs. Isaac Deems.Mrs. Isaac Deems, since 1875 a resident of LuVerne, departed this life on Tuesday morning of this week and was buried on Wednesday. She was the mother of Mrs, Leander Barton and of Mrs. Mary Finnel), and grandmother of I. M, Fiaoeli, Her maiden name was Rebecca Ross, and she was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, May 16,1821, In 1840 she was married to Isaac Deems with whom she lived happily all those years and who survives her to spend bis remaining days In loneliness. The family removed to Illinois in 1805, and in 1875 came to Iowa and settled near LuVerne, at or near which place they have since lived.At about the age of 18 she joined the M. 35. church and retained her membership in it until after she removed to Illinois, when she joined the Baptist church, but when she came to Iowa she again transferred her membership to the M. E. church und remained a member to the end. About two and a half years ago she was stricken with partial paralysis which caused her continuous suffering till.her death.She was the mother of thirteen children, eight of wham have passed on before her and five remain to mourn the death of a good mother. But one son grew to manhood and he entered the army at the time of the rebellion and soon after all tidings of him were lost. He was probably one of those who after battles are reported missing, but the old folks always entertained the hope that he would turn up sometime. But there is now scarcely any doubt that he has preceded his mother to the other shore.The remains of Mrs. Deems were followed to their last resting place by about seventy-five of her own relatives as well as many other friends.
