HARRIS DORSEYGot the Contract For Paving MainStreet.Last Monday night the city council met for the purpose of hearing t he bids read for paving Main street from the north side of Walnut street to the south side of Sycamore street, live squares in all. Following are the bids or proposals :Harris Dorsey 817,044 65W. T. Frye........17,262 50H €. Finley.. ........ 17.317 55Fouikes Frobes 17,700 20Councilman M. B. Scott moved that the bid of Harris Dorsey, the lowest, be accepted, and Councilman Black seconded the motion, which was carried.One thing peculiar was the opening of the bids, when Clerk Harrison read them off as they appear above—summing up from the lowest to the highest—the bids all being sealed.Work on the construction will begin in a short time, probably within about twenty days.
