Hampton was born near Bowers, Montgomery Co., Ind., Nov. 10, 1844. He had been in failing health since Feb., but did not take his bed unt-1 Saturday, from which time he rapidly declined until death* came as a relief to his suffering on May 29, 1917 at 2:10 p. m. Age 72 years, 6 months and 19 days.He was the youngest son of family of 8 childrens of Michael and Catherine Hampton, of this family one sister Mrs. Martha Booher survives.On September 13, 1872 he was united in marriage to Amanda M. Baldwin. To this union seven children were born, Flora Hamilton, Nellie Burroughs, Ida Morgan, Tina, Abner, Beecher and Hiram Hampton, whom with the widow and eight grand-children survive to mourn his untimely death. One grandson Wm. Morgan Burroughs died more than two vears aso.
