Morgan, Ga., June 1.—Lookouts were stationed around a swamp near here today to keep watch for Austin Westberry, life term prisoner who Sheriff J. B. Adams said escape a Thursday afternoon from the Cal houn county chain gang. Sheriff Adams said that Westberry who as convicted for the killing of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Browning, aged filling station operators, at Valdosta, Ga., in August, 1930, fled into the swamp after escaping and that he believed Westberry has remained in the swamp. ‘The officer said Westberry was ac companied in his break by a man he identified as Jim Staten, of Vladosta who had been convicted of stealing an automobile, but that Staten later was recaptured in the swamp.
