Benjamin Franklin Knapp, 72, a long time resident of Linn county residing in Robins, died at ¢2 Cedar Rapids hospital at 9:45 p.m. yesterday following a linger ing illness. Mr. Knapp had been a resident of this county since he was 4 years of age moving here with his parents from Jackson, Mich., where he was born Jan. 23, 1856. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knapp, his father be ing a veteran of the Civil war and a member of Company K, Sixth Iowa cavalry... Mr. Knapp spent his boyhood and young manhood in the vicinity of Cedar Rapids. On Feb. 4, 1880 he was married to Nellie A. Putnam. Following the marriage, the couple engaged in farming in Linn county, with the exception of four years in Winnebago county, un til Mr. Knapp retired from farm ing near Robins in 1923. His wife preceded him in death May 15, 1926 and he is survived by three children, Floyd H. Knapp, Cedar Rapids, Howard A. of Robins, and Mrs. Orval Quass, also of Rob ins. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Esther Marsh, Beloit, Wis; Mrs. W. G. Nye, Kearney, Neb.; Mrs. Cora Pollock, Missoula, Mont.; a half brother, Walter Knapp, of Robins, and nine grandchildren: Stanley, Montello and Russell Knapp of Ce dar Rapids; Arlene, Ardis and Wil liam Quass, Dorothy, Kathryn and Yvonne Knapp, all of Robins. Funeral services will be held in the residence at Robins at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Shiloh cemetery,
