Since that initial effort, which she credits as the beginning of her journalistic career, Daisy Jones’ gardening gems have been published in all of Cincinnati’s daily newspapers and made her name a by-word in Greater Cincinnati gardening circles. *She joined the staff of the Cincinnati Enquirer in 1935, transferred her efforts to the Cincinnati Times-Star in 1950 and with the merger of that newspaper with the Cincinnati Post in 1958 has continued as the garden editor of the Cincinnati Post Times-Star to date.In recognition of her contributions over the years to the beautification of Greater Cincinnati, Her gardening friends have “hired a hall” to pay her tribute onFriday evening, June 27, with nothing less that a champagne dinner. And because her friends have grown to such a legion, they have felt it necessary to hire one of Cincinnati’s most commodious halls - the Sheraton Gibson Roof Garden.Plans call for honoring this former Mon fort Heights housewife-gardener, who has kept her hands in the soil as well as at the typewriter for all these years, with something more than a fancy dinner. The occasion will also provide the nucleus for the Daisy Jones Tribute Garden Fund, ■ which will underwrite a tribute garden to be planted in the Mt. Airy Arboretum, not too far removed from the beginningsof both her gardening andjournalistic careers. *Mrs. Gordon Garry, president of the Federated Garden Clubs of Greater Cincinnati, is the general chairman. Reed Schuster, Western Hills floral and decorating authority, is acting as consultant with Mrs. A. J. Rutterer as ticket chairman and Mrs. Henry T. Hall as secretary of the Daisy Jones Tribute Garden Fund. Mrs. James Heidrich is in charge of special gifts for the Western Hills area. *Reservations for the dinner and further information regarding the Daisy Jones Tribute Garden Fund may be secured from Mrs. Rutterer, Mrs. Hall or Mrs. Heidrich. Tickets for the dinner, including membership in tfte Fund, are $12.50 'each. Contributions to' the Fund are also being received from Daisy Jones fans throughout Greater Cincinnati and beyond.Mt.
