Members of City Council Well Pleased With Her As Tem porary City Manager Miss Lois Welborn, believed to be the only woman city manager in the United States, is getting along “nicely” with her responsible position. Members of the city council are highly pleased with conditions and say Miss Welborn deserves credit. When told this morning that one member of the city council had spoken very complimentarily of her work as city manager during a meeting of the council last night, Miss Welborn said she appreciated it “but believe me, it surely takes some work, I was here ufit] late last night and will have to be back here again tonight. “I don't get time to powder my nose and I am no different from any other woman, I don’t suppose, so you know I must stay busy. I expect to pack on a little, however, while I am talking with you,” so out came the vanity case and on went the powder.
