ONLY863Repeal is Voted for By 2,741 Or 47 Per Gent, ot the TotalFinal returns released today by the Literary Digest in its national prohibition poll indicate that the four major cities of Lake county are decidedly opposed to the existing liquorlaws. Of 5,824 votes received from Gary, Hammond, East Chicago and Whiting, only 863, or 14.8 per cent were in favor of enforcement.Repeal was voted for by 2,741 or 47 per cent of the total and 2,220 or 38.2 per cent favored modification. The combined vote showed 85.2 of the ballots favoring: eithei' modification or repeal.East Chicago apparently is wettest for the four cities and Whiting is the driest. Whereas Si),3 per cent of East Chicago's ballots favored cither modification or repeal, the Whiting percentage was 79.1.GARY IN LEADGary led all other cities in voting for modification with 41 per cent, East Chicago was strongest for repeal with 51.S per cent of its ballots marked thusly, and Whiting registered the heaviest vote for enforcement, 20.9 per cent of its votes favoring that move.The statistics follow:IN FIGI11ES Enf.
