QUAKER OIL GO. STATE AGENTS FOR RAGINE TIRESLocal Firm to open Branch Office ' in Indianapolis.The Quaker Oil Company has announced an extension movement whereby they became the state distributor for the Racine Rubber Company of Racine, Wis., succeeding the I. J. Cooper Co. of Indianapolis.Negotiations have been underway for some time and were completed last week when G. F. Calbert, president of the local company, Chas. and Hildon Calbert, visited the main office at Racine. Mr. Calbert announced that Plainfield will be the headquarters for their tire department and that a branch office will be opened soon in Indianapolis with R. G. Edwards in charge. Tires will be distributed from both offices. They have already unloaded one car load of the Racine tires and will have more coming in soon.The selling of the tires will be under the supervision of “Bud” Gibson, sales manager, who is recognized as one of the best tire salesmen in the state. Tlie present road force of the Quaker company will handle the tires and special tire men will be . added giying them fourteen salesmen on the road and bringing the total employes of the company to above 30.The Racine firm is the manufacturer of tlie Country Roqd and other tires in all sizes in both fabric and cord, and is one of the best selling' tires in Indiana, their sales running about $350,000 per year.
