03“ We are requested to state that there will be a meeting of persons interested in the construction of the Aurora and Hartford Turnpike, at Hartford, on Saturday next, in the afternoon. A general attendance is expected. We know of no project that commends itself more to the attention of the people of Aurora, or that gives promise of more profitable returns, than this. Running up the valley of Laughery to Conway’s Ford (from whence it can be extended to the table land at the head of that valley), this road will give us command of the trade of an extensive region of country, rich in agricultural products, dotted with mill sites, and affording a large supply of choice timber. This road can be built at a much smaller cost than is generally expended upon turnpikes. The right of way will be donated; the grade, which will carry the road above the highest floods, will be a remarkably easy one, and the stone for metaling is already almost if not quite on the ground. It is the intention to cross Laughery at theo •present ferry by a substantial Creek, and go up on the lower side of the bridge, making the present terminus at Conway's Ford—the length of the road being about ten miles.— The capital stock of the Company'is to^be $40,000, in shares of $25each. It is thoughtwthat the road can be completed for $-35,000; this will leave $5,000 with which to meet any uuforseen contingencies. Over $11,000 has already been subscribed; we hope to see the balance speedily made up, and the work vigorously commenced. Certainly no one, and especially those living in the section to be traversed by this road, can fail to perceive the advantages to accrue from its construction. Let there be a general turn out at Hartford on Saturday.
