Theater CrowdedPerformance This Week Is Superior to Preceding Ones .— ■ i1ACH evening- this week there 1has been a large audience in 2the park theater'which gives {— J evidence of a good perfor- £mance. The general opinion is that ]this series of acts is the best thus far. The opening overture by Prof. Maurer is “Zampa.” The professor is becoming a favorite with music lovers and all . endeavor to be at the theater early in 1 order not to miss the overture.Zuida is a charming young woman whose voice fairly mesmerizes her audience. Two of her songs are her own composition. Carlin and Penn present an original comedy, “ Getting a Divorce. ” They are simply a riot. Laugh ! after laugh is recorded to their credit. 1 Their jokes are not stale nor is their 1 talk dislocated. Their singing is espe- £ dally good their voices being far supe- lt;rior in clearness, and volume to the ' average comedian. Jimmie Cowper, 1 the odd, black face comedian, has trav- ] eled with many of the famous minstrel i shows. He knows a few jokes which 1 he tells while the audience goes into i convulsions. His attempted joke on the f Garden of Edeh borders too closely on 1 the sacriligious to take well but his others “ took.” He is not like every 1 black face comedian and does original i stunts. lt;Wolffheim's bronze statues are a real t treat to lovers of art. u The wonder is i how living, human beings can maintain c a position of such absolute fixedness. r These must be seen to be appreciated, i They received merited applause. Tho lt;these were here last year they were lt;welcomed with even more enthusiasm. ' Cotter and Boulden is one of Heller's 1 pet acts which has been used in many ] of the largest theaters in America, ft i has always met with success. Mr. Cot- lt;ter is a clever pianist and composer also 1 a great dancer. Miss Ada Boulden is a beautifullittle woman of talent. She 3 sings to her own accompaniment on the 1 banjo. Her child impersonation dis- ± plays'rare ability. The act was liber- 1 ally applauded. .c
