McKeever knew something had hapepned. He rushed forward and stopped tiie train with the emergency brake.The escape of the trainload of passengers from disaster through the quick wit of the conductor has just become known.The fireman, Matthew Carranza, looked up from his fires when he felt the train rock to a stop, and found his engineer dead, his hand fallen from tlie throttle. A heart failure attack had caused the engineer’s death.
