Country Team Beaten by Locals After A Run of Eleven Straight Victories .The local club trimmed Lake Lill ian in a close game by a score of 7 to last Wednesday afternoon. Willmar had a lead of seven runs in the first four sessions but the country boys came back strong in the latter part of the battle. Willmar brought over four tallies in the third chapter on 3 singles, three fumbles and a couple of passes. Two more markers were brought home in the second on a safe hit, error and a walk. Willmar garnered one tally in the last five sessions. Three safe blows were recorded. Lake Lillian scored three runs in the fifth on six consecutive hits and one fumble. It is rather seldom that this feature has been performed at the local ball grounds. The visitors tallied twice in the seventh and twice in the ninth. Five of the Lake Lillian runs were earned while only four were earned by the local boys. Lake Lillian made a better showing than what was expected. Manager Hoon stated that some reasons for the defeat of his team could be said to that Ogren had pitched in games on Saturday and Sunday previous to the Willmar game. Also that their regu lar pitcher “Dickie” Johnson hurled for Bird Island last Sunday and de feated Gibbon, failed to appear at the ball park for Wednesday's battle. FIRST INNING Lake Lillian—Karnes hit to short and was thrown out at first. O. John son was safe on Benda's error, E. An derson also safe on another fumble by Benda. Phillips grounded out to* first. Johnson went third and Ander son second. Ogren grounded to Han non and was thrown out to Mulock. No runs, no hits, 2 errors, Willmar—Gleason out, short to 1st. Hahn went the same route, Benda was hit by pitched ball, went second on passed ball. Kielty slammed the pill to left center for a two ply, Benda marking. Hapnon out, pitcher to 1st. 1 run. 1 hit, no errors. SECOND INNING Lake Lillian—Posley out, pitcher to first, Kohn flied out to right. W. John son clouted the pill over short to cen ter for a single. Quist hit in front of plate and was thrown out by Gleason to first. No runs, 1 hit, no errors. Willmar—Mulock walked, stole sec ond, Berry whiffed, Mattson singled to center, Mattson went second on n row to plate, Cristian safe on er ror by short. Mulock and Mattson sc ored. Christian went second on ane throw to plate. Gleason fanned. Hahn filed out to second. 2 runs, 1 hit, 1 er ror, THIRD INNING Lake Lillian—Karnos out, third to first. ©. Johnson out, short to first. §. Anderson went the same route as ‘Johnson. No runs, no hits, no errors. Willmar—R. Anderson catching for Lake Lillian, Karnes changed from short to center and Kohl from center to short.Benda walked. Kielty safe an infield hit to third. Hannon sacri ficed by sending a grounder to first, Benda going third and Kielty going se cond. Mulock smashed the apple to center for a single, Benda and Kielty scoring. Mulock went second when center fielder fumbled ball. Berry clouted the pill to right garden for a safe hit, Mulock marking. Berry scor ed way from second when catcher missed the throw from right. Mattson out second to first. Christian safe on Kohl’s error. Gleason was handed a pass. Hahn struck out. 4 runs, 3 hits, 3 errors. FOURTH INNING Lake Lillian—Phillips flied out to center. Ogren hit a mile high fly to third. Posley given four balls. Kohl walloped the pils to right for a two bigger, Posley going third. W. John son flied out to center. No runs, 1 hit, no errors, Willmar—Benda hit a safe single to short, Kielty sacrificed, pitcher to 1st, which turned into a double play when Benda was out on the throw from 1st to third, Hannon flied out to left. No runs, 1 hit, no errors. FIFTH INNING Lake Lillian—This inning Lake Lil ian made six consecutive hits. R. An derson safe an infield hit to third, Tatting batting for Karnos bunted in front of home plate for a safe hit. O. Johnson singled to left, Anderson tal lying. Tatting was attempting to go third and was out when O. Johnson forced him off at second. The throw was from left to catcher to first to 3rd to short to third to second. The going of Johnson to second was one of the foolish acts of the game on the Lake Lillian part. O. Johnson was out at second when Kielty had the ball hid den in his glove and touched Johnson as he stepped off the base, Anderson singled to center, Phillips slammed the pill to left for a single. Ogren murder ed the ball by sending it to deep cen ter for 4 two bagger, Anderson and Phillips scoring, Ogren went third when Kielty fumbled throw, Pesley flied gut to left, 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 error. Willmar—Tatting playing center field for Lake Lillian, Mulock walked, went second on a passed ball. Berry flied out to right, Mulock went third, Mattson hit to second who overthrew home, Mulock scoring, Mattson went second on throw to plate, Christian out, pitcher to first. Gleason flied out to Ogren. 1 run, no hits, 1 error. SIXTH INNING Lake Lillian—Kohl flied out to right W. Johnson out, pitcher to first. An derson fouled out to catcher. No runs, no hits, no errors. Willmar—Hahn out, short to first. Renda flied out to center. Kielty out, pitcher to first. No runs, no hits, no errors. SEVENTH INNING Lake Lillian—Tatting flied out to first. Johnson out, short to first. An derson hit in front of home plate for 1 safe hit. Phillips walked. Ogren clout ed the pill to deep center again for another two bagger, Anderson and Phillips marking. Ogren went third when second baseman missed throw from catcher. Posley out, third to 1st. 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 error. ,_ Willmar—Hannon flied out to short, Mulock flied out to right. Berry hit a three bagger to deep center but was cut trying to stretch it into a homer. The play was from center to third to catcher to pitcher. No runs, 1 hit, no errors, EIGHTH INNING Lake Lillian—R. Johnson pitching for Willmar. Kohl was hit by pitched ball, W. Johnson sacrificed, pitcher to first, Anderson walked. Tatting hit into a double play when he flied up to short and Kohl was ‘out from the throw from short to second.No runs, no hits, no errors, ‘Willmar—Mattson flied out to third. Johnson walked. Gleason singled to center. Hahn hit to center who threw Johnson out at third. Benda fanned. No runs, 1 hit, no errors. ‘WITH INNING Lake Lillian—O. Johnson was safe on short's error. E. Anderson singled to left, Phillips and Ogren fanned. Posley hit to Kielty who overthrew first base, Johnson and Anderson scor ing.
