Wednesday evening Miss Anna Keekers,of West Williams street, was the recipient of a masquerade surprise party. Those participating were: Messrs. and Mesdames Ferd and John Grimme, Louis Gocke, Andew Keller,Petgen, John and Will Christen, Krotoh, Hughes, Bestram, Clem and Frank Keekers, Misses Mamie and Josephine Keekers, Anna App, Alice Stocking, Katie Schwieters, Hineford Calaban, Messrs. Grimme of Dayton, Ky., Frank Schwieters, Rempke, John Auer, Ben and Charlie Reckerfc.A team ot horses attached to a delivery wagon belonging to Charles Weller, a butcher of West Jefferson street, driven by a man named Gebfert, took fright at an engine on the Wabash at the Fairfield avenue crossing yesterday afternoon. They dashed down the street, while the driver did his best to stop them. On the corner of Taylor street the wagon ran into a farmer’s wagon hitched there. .The shock of the collision threw Gebfert out. His head struck the hind wheel as he fell, tearing the left ear entirely off.* He sustained several bad gashes on the head beside, and is supposed to have received internal injuries also. He was carried to the home of his sister, Mrs. Dailey, on Taylor street, ami Dr. Stultz summoned, who pronounced his injuries serious. Gebfert will recover, but he was very badly hurt.
