Hinkley HappeningsAt the meeting of the Co-operativeAssociation, January 8, representativesof the Layne A Howler Co., of Los Angeles, stated that their company would bring into the Hinkley valley at once a deep well rig. The first well contractis with W. N. Vandermast, who willhave a deep well on his property, formerly Mrs. Morrison’s.At this meeting new officers were elected for the ensuing year.E. II. Harris and family, of Daggett, have moved onto their desert claimnorth of Wimberley’s. A house andbarn has been built and a 0x0 pit for a well has been dug down to water.Twelve additional pupils have been added to the school since January 1, making a total of 22. Miss Viola S.Byers, of San Bernardino, is teaching.Win. Berry and Win. B. Maule are putting down a well for Mrs. Kennedy. A. M. Judson has just arrived fromJ/is Angeles, locating on the Kurtzplace. Frank Wombacher is building a house and barn for him.Mr. Allen has just finished a good domestic well and has started on a wellfor irrigating purposes. A. E. Axtell is doing the work.Mr. Joseph is installing a 40 h.p. engine on his 100 acres recently purchased from T. A. Fleck.W. 8. Ritchie has shipped in another 25 h.p. engine and will install it on hisplace north of the track.The good rains of the past few days put a broad smile on the faces of the ranchers.Revival meetings are being conducted in the school house this week by Mrs. Everett and Mrs. Roll.Dr. Violet is having some land clearedon his place.
