LUBBOCK, Jan. 6.—(Spl)—Seeds from two varieties of storm-proof cotton developed at Lubbock ex a. station and produced at xas Technological College are available to cotton farmers. The cotton was grown on approx imately 30 acres of college dry land. The soil was in excellent condition which compensated in part for the limited water the plants received, Dr. A. W. Young, head of plant in dustry, said. From about 20 acres where varie ty 122 was planted, nine bales were harvested. On the 10-acre plot bear ing variety 89A, four bales were harvested. A Boone experimental machine was used for harvesting the crop. The 89A type is a combination of Delta Pine and Macha cotton, and 122 is Acala combined with Macha. Virtually no loss was experienced from high winds or storm, Dr. Young said.
