The program was under thlt; direction of Miss Phyllis Plichta chairman of the international rela-tions committee.A colored film, “Down Where the North Begins” was presented. This was an outerview of Ecuador and ' large number of other colorful pictures of South America were nlsr shown.The guest speaker of the evening was Mrs. Evar Forslund, the for mer Miss Ella Nikula, who went tc Peru to be married and spent the next four years following her marriage in the picturesque country She sketched briefly her impression: of South America. Mr. Forslund 1: now located with a mining companj in Brazil. It was interesting to learr that one of the first impression! Mrs. Forslund had of Brazil wen the many cars on the streets of iti cities. Unlike our own country, thlt; South American people kept the outside of their cars clean and shining Most of them were driven b chauffeurs. Although many different nationalities are represented in South America, there is still class distinction. She said it was gratifying tc find that the city of Lima had lfl theaters in which the English language was spoken. The Forslund family lived on a plateau near the Andes mountains. This was at an elevation of 18,000 feet. Here the air was very light and after four years there the family was happy to return to the United States.Nancy and Marion Forslund, young Slaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Forslund entertained with a conversation and song in Spanish. The girls were born in South America.
