OBIT 17A.UY OF JOHN WEISSJohn Weiss was bom at Wurtsen-bur^r Germany, February 5, 1846 ftii'1 departed this life January 26, at bis home in Goodland, Indiana*1 i al the age of 75 years 11 months and 1 ,21 clays. In early manhood he emig! i rated from Germany to ^America, i became an American citizen and settled at Ottawa, III. Here on Feb.4, 186S he was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Uendt, who survives him as his widow. To this union were •born four children, Charles Weiss, a fanner living in Rensselaer, Ind. Mra.Carrie Weiss (Fteese) of Chicago III, Christian Weiss, also of Chicago/ and John H, Weiss, afarmer of Newton County.♦After his marriage Sir. Weiss Uv ed for a short time at Ottawa, III. and then moved to a farm south of Kentland and still later moved to hi9 borne farm north of Goodland. For the last twenty six years he and his faithful wife have Jived at their res sidence in Goodland. He was horn a member of the Lutheran Church as bis father and mother were both members of that denomination, andlived and died in that faith*There were many beautiful 1 traits in the character of Mr. Weiss. He was an honest bard working, faith full nan. Always ready and wiling to do his part, in the battle of lifei He read and believed tbe word of. God just as it was written. He had the same beauttfull faith that the Master of men described when He said: Suffer little children tocome unto-me and forbid them not* for such is the kingdom of God,1’A good man has passed from our midst; and honest kind hearted man has been called home. The world Is better because he lived In it. His church will miss him, his family will miss him, but the good deedsithat he preformed on earth will live 1 on and on forever. He loaves to morn Mb death* his widow* three sons, one daughter, nine grand children, and a host of neighbors and friends.Funeral services were conducted from the Goodland Lutheran Trinity church Sunday afternoon at 1:30 con ducted by Rev. W. H. Storm. Inter-1 ment was iqhde In the Goodland cemetery.
