R. H. Feathersone was appointed chairman of the quail committee and will have charge of the post’s Nlmroda who will supply the game. Sanders Baskin Is chairman of the supper committee and will make arrangement* for the serving of the supper by wives of the members. Mr. Feather-stone assured the members that there would be at least one quail per person and Mr. Baskin promised to arrange for all the other “trimmings. It is planned to hold the supper at the Elk’s club.By a unanimous vote, the post took v favorable action on a resolution advocating naval strength a copy of which appears in another column of this issue of The Leader.The report of L. J. Fox, service officer, showed that assitance had been rendered to a disabled veteran on his way to a government hospital and application “ for adjusted compensation had been made for several eligible veterans and H dependents.The post membership for 1930 is now l6s, according to Dr. W. 3. Rutledge, chairman of the membership committee, despite the fact that several former members have moved from the city. The 1029 figure was 120 and the committee has the names of 43 eligible veterans whom they expect to enroll before January 1st.i A report of the district meeting, held in Monroe on December 15th, was rendered by Sanders Baskin, district commander. Members of the local post took a prominent part in the meeting, a report of which appeared in Monday’s Leader.Commander Cole appointed M. E. Nappler as chairman of the post’s sick and relief committee and the post authorized him to send a suitable Christmas box to every Lincoln parish veteran now in hospital.The Louisiana department of the Legion having sponsored the planting of shade trees along the state highways, the commander appointed R. H. Feath-.erstone, Malcolm Hood and A. O. Hedg-peth as a committee to have charge of the Lincoln parish section.A committee composed of J. A. Shealy W. E. McBride and Harvey B. Pratt was appointed to take action on a motion passed by the post looking towards the adoption by Louisiana of the holly as the state tree and advocating the planting of a holly tree In the yard of every home in the state.d
