Reminiscences by S. B. Gillham, Sr.[Prom the Alton Telegraph. 1The late S. B. Gillham was mainly instrumental iu getting tip the organization of Old Settlers. He spent considerable time in circulating a paper for signatures calling the* first meeting for organization,and in other ways used his influence to make the society a success. He was at the recent meeting held in 33d wards villa, in his usual health, and in excellent spirits. Mr. Gillham was well-known throughout the county, and was universally respected and esteemed, and it is hoped that some one who is more intimately acquainted with his history than we are, will prepare a more delailed account of his eventful life. The folio yr-ing paper was prepared by him, to be read at the last meeting of the wpid Settlers,” in Edwardsville, but was crowded out for want of time to hear it:I woa bom in Madison county, Illinois, on theform adjoining that of the late Col. Samuel Judy, oneof the early pioneers of this county, in November, 1812, during the time of {ha campaign of Gov. Edwards against the Indians.
