Mrs. Reese Adjudged Insane*Mrs. B. H. Reese of Germaniii. a married woman about forty years of age and haying three children, was adjudged insane Tuesday and sent to Cherokee. The following letter written by her and introduced in evidence shows the hallucination she entertained. It is a piteous appeal for protection against an imaginary enemy, and reads as follows:Gkkmania, Iowa, Dec. 25,1004.—To Mr. Roosevelt, president. Dear Sir: Having been informed that there is a great pall hanging over our home for a great offense we have committed— If we have we humbly beg your pardon for we did not mean to. We are nott *anarchists by any means, M.y husband and 1 are republicans. I honor the government, with all respect, though I feel afraid to stand trial. Please don’t be ungracious to us. We are in great trouble about it. Wc did not know we had done anything or understood the papers for a long time. But whatever, bear in mind we are republicans, not anarchists Please don’t be ungracious to us. The awful -ness is so shocking we are sick. Yours truly, Mil. and Mrs. Bkesk,Germania, Iowa.
