ROUTE BETWEEN CHICAGO AND NEW YORK STARTED NEW YORK. Dec. 18.—Leon Smith, aviator left at 7:20 A. M. today in an airplane, carrying 200 pounds of mail to Chicago. The flight marks the beginning of a permanent airplane mail route between New York and Chicago. ALTOONA, VPa., Dec. 18. — The frst New York-Chicago mail airplane arrived in Bellefonte at 14:15 this morning. The pilot experienced con siderable trouble from dense fogs and landed in state college by mistake. The trip was resumed by another ma chine at noon. CLEVELAND, O., Dec. 18. — The biplane en route from New York to Chicago landed here at 1 o’clock this afternoon.
