a SMITHVILLE, Dec. 16.—(Spl)— The Christmas lighting contest this year in Smithville is being spon sored by the Lions Club, the Optim ist Club, the Garden Club and the Chamber of Commerce. First and second prizes will be awarded in four divisions: yard, coor, window and commercial. The City of Smithville has put up the largest array of Christmas lights ever displayed in the down town section. B. F. Wesson, man ager of the city light and water department says it has added an ad ditional $500 worth of lights this year. The lights are strung the entire length of Main Street and on several of the side streets. The annual Christmas tree spon sored by the Smithville Lions Club has been erected on the south end of Main Street and Santa Claus will arrive via the Katy Dec. 23 with a gift for every boy and girl in this community.
