Martz reached this city November 21, to his mother, Mrs. Amy Martz, ‘The tele gram stated that George had been killed in action on the battlefields in France on October 28. Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune: Oscar Johnson died at his home in this city on Monday morning, November 25, after a short illness of pneumonia following an attack of influenza. His condition was not thought critical until Sunday evening and he passed away Monday morning. Storm Lake Register: A telegram was received by Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Redenbaugh of 800 Lake Avenue this (Thursday) afternoon, announcing the sad news of the death of their eldest son, Dannie Redenbaugh, who died in France of heart failure on Monday, November 1). Washta Journal: An enthusiastic meeting of Washta and Quimby citi zens was held at Snidecor’s store in Washta Tuesday evening to discuss plans for electric lighting the two towns. Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune: Among the sad deaths which have occurred in this city caused by the epidemic of Spanish influenza, was that of Miss Shirley Harper of this city. Two weeks ago she came home from Qde bolt where she was a teacher in the public schools and was taken ill with a complication of diseases which develop ed into pneumonia, when death claimed her at her home on Tuesday evening, November 26, Marcus News: After eight long weeks of waiting and watching for some news in regard to the death of their son, Frederick Goodburn in France. Elmer Goodburn received a letter from the American Red Cross on November 23. ‘The letter was written on October 30, but was misdirected, and therefore delayed. The letter in dicates that the young soldier died the following day after receiving wounds on the battle field, and his demise may have followed the amputation of his leg.
