Wastiburu Will Have a Oreat C'elelira-^.tion.The Mill Men’s Uu;on is makingbig preparations for Labor Day. Asthis is Washburn’s year to have thecelebration it is expected that theneighboring towns will all spendthe dav here. Bayfield’s unions will •/ •*come here, and many from Ashland are expected. The Washburn celebration will be the big celebration this year. Port Wing, Mason and Drummond are expected to turn out in large numbers. A liberal sum has been subscribed by private subscription for prizes, and the array of games and prizes wiil be the best of any Labor Day celebration. It is expected that the parade will have 1,000 laboring men in line. A big log rolling contest will be provided, with liberal prizes for the winneis, and a ball’game between Washburn and Bayfield is scheduled for the afternoon. There will be speeches, and Frank Webber, of Milwaukee. and Geo. C.Cooper, of West Superior, are down for the principal addresses. Other locals peakers wili help out. In the~evening there is to be a big display of fireworks, and a dance at the opera house.
