Otis Wright, of the Camp Sharples division of the CCC at Logan, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Ada Wright. Mrs. France Nace, of Mullens, is recuperating at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gugliotta from a re cent appendix operation which was performed at the Raleigh General hospital. Mr. and Mrs. George Dale and family and Mrs. Lizzie Harlow, of Beckley, spent Saturday in Lexing ton, Va. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kirk, Mrs. W. H. Davenport, Mrs. E. H., Loflin, Mrs. Effie Hedrick and Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Lemon attended funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Whit ney at Oak Hill Monday, Emmett Davis is able to be out again after an attack of the flu. Fred Lilly is confined to his home by acute indigestion, al though his condition is not critical. Miss Helen Black has returned to her home here after an extended visit with relatives in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Gwynn had as their guests last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carver and daughter, Jeanne, of Cincinnati. Mrs. Z. Bennett has returned from a visit in Covington and oth er Virginia cities. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gwynn are spending the next two weeks with her parents in Staunton, Va. Miss Virginia Noce left recently for Pittsburgh, where she will con tinue her studies in a music con servatory. Miss Barbara Ann Sullivan, of Beckley, is spending this week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Sullivan. Mrs. John Black left Sunday to accompany Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lewis, of Columbus, Ohio, on a motor trip through the West. They plan to go as far as Utah. Mrs. W. H. Davenport, Mrs. Anna Hutchinson, Misses Stella, Alma and Gladys Davenport, and Miss Patty Richard motored to Charles ton yesterday. Mrs. Davenport and Misses Alma and Gladys Daven port returned but the rest of the party plans to remain until Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gugliotta have as their guests Misses Mary Stad afore and Elaine Harrimison, Miss Joan Andy, John and Sam Andy, of Washington, Pa. Miss Mary Frances Carter, of Beckley, was a dinner guest last evening of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kirk. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Fink and Miss Norma Lee Fink returned Tuesday from Charleston, where they attended the American Legion convention
