SoandiDgs In Mono Lake. |The Homer Index of August 11th •ays: The United States Typographical and Geological party under J. C. Bussell, which has been operating round about Mono Lake tor several weeks past, sounded thelake very thoroughly and ascertained its depth to average 130 feet. This is a much less depth, than the lake was supposed to be. The tleepest place found was in a crater or fissure about 20 feet wide and 100 teet long, near the minor island of hlack lava, the depth here being 160 feet. The Bussell party will shortly proceed to the peak of Mount Dane (13,287 feet high), where they will spend some time 1q making observations.
