Chas. L. Oldham died at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, at the hospital, at Anderson, following an operation.Mr. Oldham has been seriously ill for more than a week with typhoid fever, when other troubles developedthat became so serious that an im-% *mediate operation was necessary, and he was hurried to the hospital shortlyalter' mmn . \ — *• t •The announcement late Sunday afternoon ,fhat Mr. Oldham was dead, came as a shock to the people of Pendleton.Several years ago Mr. Oldham moved to Pendleton from his farm south-east of town, and became manager of the Pendleton Elevator Co. He resigned his position and embarked in the grocery business with Mr. Frank Phillips. After a year in I this business he sold his interest.Mr. Oldham was one of the highly respected citizens of Pendleton, a man well liked by all, and one who took an interest in the welfare of his home town.Mrs. Oldham, who has been sick with typhoid fever, *also, and who now is in a serious condition, has not been told of her husbands death.Mr. Oldham was a member of the M. E. church and also a member of the I. 0. O. F. Lodge.Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Wednesday afternoon, at three o’clock. Rev. J. Orr Powell, officiating. Burial in Grove-lawn cemetery.
