Havelock Man Died FollowingKLong IllnesseHavelock—Funeral services for William C. Steen were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist church with Rev. R. Moss of Pocahontas officiating. Mr. Steen died at the University hospital, Iowa City, July 25, after an illness of nearly three years.Pallbearers were Byron Lathrop, Carl Barth, Otto Maltzhan, Bert Jacobson and Will Nowack of Havelock and Martin Gehrt of Spencer. Burial was in Washington cemetery with the Mclntire Funeral Home of Pocahontas in charge of arrangements,William C. Steen was born July 5, 1890, at Traer, Tama county, the son of the late William and Catherine Ward. He was less than a year old when his parents moved to Pocahontas county where he grew to manhood.He was united in marriage to Hannah Hansen, January 25, 1911. To this union four children were born, Clifford and Marion of Oceanside, Calif,, Garry of Pocahontas, and Gene who died in infancy,Mr. Steen engaged in farming in this vicinity for a number of years and later the family moved to South Dakota. In 1925 they moved back to this community where they have since resided.Survivors include his widow and children; five grandchildren; three brothers, Art and Sam of Denver, Colo., and Roy of Grand Island, Nebr.; four sisters, (Rose) Mrs. Oscar Dyvig of Chicago, (Amber) Mrs. Hjalmcr Ima of Florida; (Kathryn) Mrs. Arnold Waylander of Fergus Falls, Minn., and (Maxine) Mrs. Henry Auen of Denver, Colo. A brother, Thomas, and a sister, Ellen, preceded him in death.Those who were here from a distance were Art and Sam Steen, and Mrs. Henry Auen of Denver, Colo., Mr, and Mrs. Roy Steen of Grand Island, Nebr., Mrs. Ernest Carveth of Lincoln, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Waylander and Daniel of Fergus Falls, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dyvig of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hansen and Mrs. Thomas Rinko of Jackson, Minn., and many others from Emmets-burg, Cylinder, Graettinger, Laurens, Mallard, Rolfe, Plover, Newell, Spencer and Curlew.I
