Democratic Convention.fLast Saturday the Democracy of Howard, to the number of one hundred, met in Mass Convention at Armstrong’s Hall. Jamc6 A, Haggard called the meeting to order and then resigned bis position as chairman of the Central Committee. After a lew moments consultation Dr. Henderson was called to the chair. J. W. Kern and J. M. Goar appointed Secretaries. C. N. Pollard introduced a series of resolutions advocating the abandonment of a regular party organization for all officers except Representative and Cammissioners, and to urgeupon the Democrats the dutyof supporting “independents.” These were finally adopted, as were also the following presented by J. W. Kern, chairman of the Committee on resolutions;tBWhereas, The dominant party has proved recreant to their pledges in their promises of reform and economy, and are adding by unwise legislation untold burdens of taxation upon the people, andWhereas, The laboring men of the country are writhing under onerous and unjust taxation, ex hausting their energies in paining a bare living for their families, while we have a system of laws bywhich a favored few become rich and opulent in a short time.—A fee system of laws by which the people are fleeced and impoverished, while County officers live like lordly princes, with little labor, andWhereas, The interests of How ard county demand a thorough renovation of the county affairs, and a general “cleaning up” of the workings of a pampered‘Ring’ thereforeResolved, That a true, speedy,
