Shotguns and Revolvers Used to Settle Dispute Over Land Title. Poplar Bint! Mu.: News reached this city Friday morning of a heady hbattle between Tiley Henson, Syl Ad ams and William Heck, in which the three participants were shot and instantly killed. The trouble occurred on Tete Mile creek, west of this city. According to the meager reports of the affray which have reached Poplar Bluff, the difficulty originated in a dis pute between Adams and Henson over a tithe to a tract of land. The land formerly belonged to Adams, but was sold for taxes recently. Henson was the purchaser, Henson had assumed possession and was at work on his property Friday morning when Adams and his tenant William Heck appeared. They or dered Henson to Vacu.e When he de clined to do so Adams is reported to have produced a gun and to have opened fire, Henson returned the fire, and Heck took a hand in the shoot ing. A volley of shots was fired from shotguns and revolvers, and when the smoke cleared away all were dead. L. M. Henson, the only eye-witness to the affray, makes no statement other than that Adams and Heck were the aggressors. The participants were all well known in this vicinity. Ad ams was 37 years old, unmarried, and owned a large tract of land in this county. He was a hal iroather to W. B. Addams of the bank of Poplar Ghat. Wieck was 85 years old and bore a sea reputation. THe leaves a wife and family. Tlensom was 27 years of age. He was a son of TL M. Henson and a brother of JL. M. Henson and Walter Henson of the clieuit clerk's office. Another brother, John Henson, is an attache of the sheriff's office. He leaves a young wife and one child.
