A sigh of joy filled council chambers on April 9 when Lawrence Moedt was hired as City Manager. The action came after approximately three months of reviewing resumes and interviewing pros pective employees. Although Gerald Whims was absent, he sent a proxy vote of yes with Council president Al Imhoff. Moedt has a fine background in public adminis tration He is presently self employed as a manage ment consultant. When Moedt was in Rittman for his interview, he witnessed the problems with well number five. That was the Saturday that the motor burned up and a new one had to be obtained from Massillon. He heard about other pressing problems yet took a positive attitude When called after council meeting, he asked what steps had been taken to ease the sewage problem and lack of water. The man is qualified and is interested in Rittman. It is up to the citizens to make him feel at home and work with him. The city manager form of gov ernment works best when council and citizens are involved When people do get involved, the city manager’s job is easier and Rittman will take a giant step for ward to your part to help.
