Callighan 2ndby Debbie Howard STHS senior Phil Callighan finished second place in the Radio Speaking division of the State Speech Contest held April 3 and 4 at Illinois State University at Normal. The competition began with three preliminary rounds and the top two contestants of each round qualified for the finals. From tha six finalists in the Radio competition, Callighan received second,Callighan was the only NCIC representative to place at the State level, and was the first Sterling competitor to come this near to a first place finish in many years.
