MEMBERS OF IMPROVEMENT CLUB PREPARE SLATE. FOR COMING EVENT—FAVOR PARK BOARD PLANS The Woman's Improvement Club met Tuesday afternoon ‘at the home of Mre. JMiftidou,“with’ a’ age representation of the membership present and the entire afternoon given over to important business matters. A call for the twelfth annual con vention of the State Federation of Women's clubs, which will be held in Fresno April 29 and 30, May 1 and 2, was read. Mrs. Chas. A. Holloway was appointed delegate to represent the local club at the state convention. Mrs. Joy Jameson was named as alternate, Mr. W. J. Pentelow addressed the ladies in regard to further improve ments on the new city parks. In lieu of the fact that the Sixth street extension will soon be the main thoroughfare into Corona from Rliov erside, and that great numbers of people will be attracted here when the Speedway is completed, the park board deem it expedient at this time to ask the city trustees to appropri ate money for covering the winding walks in the park, building a lath house and making any other im provements as could be made sensibly. Mr. Pentelow asked the club to endorse this movement and send resolutions favoring an appropria tion for this purpose to the city council. Mrs. Holloway presented a resolu tion embodying this endorsement and moved it be sent to the council. The club unanimously adopted the resolution and ordered it forwarded. Chamber of Commerce Banquet Mrs. Jameson named as her com mittee to plan for and execute the Chamber of Commerce banquet, Mrs. G. FE. Dean, Mrs. W. 8. Davis and Mrs. F. J. Mueller. The primary election of officers for the coming year was then held. The Primary Election This proved a very spirited affair; the following slate was compiled: President, Mrs. Sarah Case; first vice president, Mrs. W. J. Pentelow and Mrs. W. 8. Davis; second vice president, Mrs. Nora Hampton and Mrs. O. N. McNary; recording sec retary, Mrs. L. L. Andrews; corres ponding secretary Mrs. F. J. Muel ler and Miss Eloise Jameson; treas urer, Mrs. R. D. Lamson; members at large, Mrs. W. H. Jameson, Mrs. T. C. Jameson, Mrs. D. H. Alden, Mrs. C. A. Holloway, Mrs. G. P. Mc Corkid and Miss Lillian Lewis. The final election will take place May 13. Deed for Club House Site Mrs. W. H. Jameson in a few well chosen words very graciously pre sented the deed for the lots on the corner of Main and Eleventh streets to the club. The new club house will be begun very soon on these lots whic were the generous gift of Mrs. Joy, the mother of Mrs. W. H. Jame son. The club members gave a rising vote of thanks to the donor and there were many kind, appreciative tributes paid to her. ‘The next meeting of the club will be held April 22 in the Congrega tional church unless otherwise an nounced. At that time, Mr. S.S. Schultze, of Los Angeles will explain the value of the story hour in the Public Library. His talk will be illustrated.
