A SUDDEN CALL iAunt Lydia Pierce is stricken With j Paralysis and Death Follows In aFew Brief Hours.That we know not the day nor the hour when the dark winged messenger will call, was forcefully illustrated in the sudden summons of Aunt Lydia Pierce by a stroke of paralysis on Monday, to pass the portals of the unseen. Feeling as well as usual, accompanied by her grand-daughter, Verda Pierce, daughter of Joe Pierce she went to find some greens. They had gone some little distance from the houseand were crossing a wood pasture, when the girl noticed something wrong in the actions of her grandmother, and speaking to her found she could not talk hut understoodwhat she was saying. The girl found her a place to sit down and called for help, and Aunt Lydia was taken to the home of her son, John Pierce, but she never spoke to any one after the little girl realized that something was the matter with her. Dr. Hamilton was summoned andsoon reached her bedside, but the hand of death lay heavily upon her and the skill of the physician could not lift it, • and she passed awaytTuesday evening.Lydia Tracy-Pierce, daughter of Basil and Elizabeth Price-Tracy, was born September 27, 1834; died((l1travifsbotlt;ctlt;oMarch 31, 1908, aged 73 years, 6months and 4 cl a vs. She was mar-ried to James Pierce October 18, 1854, to which union ten children were born, six of whom have passed to the future world. The husbandand father passed to his reward December 31, 1898. Four children survive,—-.To^p Pierce, - rs. LauraBirdcell and Joe Pierce, all of this place, and Mrs. Julia C. Saxon of Hartford City. Besides these she leaves one sister, Mrs. Martha Biddle, wife of John P. Biddle,ten grandchildren, and a large circle of other relatives and friends.Aunt Lydia, as we have all known her for many years, united with the Baptist church February 1, 1878, under the pastorate of the Rev. C. J. Bowles, more than thirty years ago. The funeral service was con-t(titltlaS'ducted at the Baptist church at 10 o’clock yesterday morning by Rev. J. P. Henson, interment taking place in the family lot at the Masonic cemetery.
