AURORA AUBTRILI8.M«|ilfleeit Dliplty m FridayThe exhibition of the Aurora on Thursday night aid Friday morning, exceeded la brilliancy that of last Sunday evening ; but upon the last occasion It was chiefly confined to the southern hearene, and hence was more property an Aurora Austria* than an Aurora BonalU* At one time the light lay along within five degrees of the southern horizon, Kike a bright, white cloud, with the lower edge as well defined as the edge of a sheet of white paper* From I to 2 o'clock A. U., the markea features of the light were an Immense pUlar, or rather bank, of 11 rid red in the southeast, and a corresponding bank of yellowish white light in the southwest. From these shot up red, orange, yellow end white streamers, which nearly met in a point south of the zenith. There was also, at that time, considerable white light in confused shapes, • porting liself in the north. But two hours ^aier, when the light, ea a whole, was at its greatest brilliancy, the northern heavens were perfectly unll-]u minuted, with the exception of a few dim and almost imperce piible white streamers, which passed from the zenith nearly hslf wey down to the north star. At that time almost the whole southern heavens were in a livid.red fiame, brightest still in the southeast and southwest. Streamers of yellow and orange shot up and met and crossed each other, like the bayonets upon a stack of guns, In the open space between the constellations Aries, Taunts and the Head of Medusa —about fifteen degrees south of the lenlth. la this manner—alternating great pillars, rolling cumuli, shoe ting streamers, curdled and w I sped and fleecy waves—rapidly charging Its hues from red to orange* oiarge to yellow, and yellow to white, and back in the same order to brilliant red, the magnificent auroral gloty continued its grand and inexplicable movement* until the light of morning overpowered U radiance and it was lost In the beams of the rising iur.
