- A species of penguin, magpie, or minor auk was observed by severalMedicine Hatters sporting on the ice of the South Saskatchewan river near Finlay bridge Tuesday : ;morning.No naturalist being present/ Iden-v tily of the strange bird was notmade, although it resembled a smallpenguin more than .anything else.Mr. Webster’s dictionary claims aspecies of “jackass penguins” ofPygmy proportions to the real Ant-arctic ' . If it was of this species, it was probably well named for having wandered so far north, and from its natiyc habitat. Another freak for Medicine Hat to add to its rosterof natural phenomena! Some observers suggested it might, be the^offspring of the ogopogo or river 1 monster. *
