On Wednesday he received a letter from Mr C W Scott announcing his 90th birthday on Thursday September 10 to be celebrated at his daughter Mrs W K Sloane’s home in Peterboro. Plane crash lands in Clarke orchard near Orono
A large two motor RAF plane force landed Friday in the orchard of Mrs Nellie Pollard on Lot 33 Con 4 Clarke Township two miles southwest of Orono after engine trouble during a district manoeuvre. Both occupants escaped with minor injuries. one with a broken nose and the other with cuts and scratches. The craft struck four apple trees but the cabin and fuselage remained largely intact. Local residents gathered at the scene, taking fragments of fabric and wood as keepsakes.

Boy Receives Broken Nose When Struck By Truck
Douglas Gamsby son of Mr and Mrs Ken Gamsby of Orono was struck by a southbound truck while crossing the road. He sustained a broken nose and a large forehead bruise and was treated by Dr McKenzie before being taken home and scheduled for hospital nose setting.
