Orono United Church faces tax on property move
The Orono United Church and others discuss proposed church property taxation. The plan would tax churches on 10 percent of assessed value, potentially raising local taxes to $2000 initially and $4000–$5000 later. The measure aims to ease provincial funding pressure but risks state influence on church affairs.
