Intermediate hockey returns to Orono with a meeting of eighteen participants at the Orono rink. The club seeks six January exhibitions, Ontario Intermediates play downs, and a booster club under President A B West and Manager Daze Found.
Orono Hi-Teens outline New Year Eve Dance at Orono Town Hall with the Seyenaires of Shewecie from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Admission rises to 6.00 per couple due to higher orchestra costs. A 50 50 draw prizes half of ticket takings, tickets 50 cents. Also planned is the final pre New Year Hi-Teens dance on November 28 at the same venue.
George Douglas Dey and Marilyn Louise Rosborough married at Lundy’s Lane United Church with a ceremony by Rev Fiddes and Rev Kitchen. Attendants wore crystal charm dresses. reception followed at Hotel Stevens. Guests included families from Buffalo and Ontario, with many relatives attending from Peterborough and Toronto.
The Mission Band of the Orone Jaited Church held its regular meeting Monday with Mrs A A Drummond leading singing. Elaine Schmid and Donna Gilbank collected offerings. Treasurer Carol Gilbank reported 8921 at the last meeting. Janice Rutherford presided.
Eleven residents of The Village Will attend an Orono art meeting led by Mr Bermett to plan a Thursday program. Rickaby was chosen to head the group which will meet from 7 to 10 pm at Orono Public School with a $2 nightly fee. The course covers drawing, perspective, oils or watercolors and includes 20 minute artist films every other week. The invitation welcomes beginners and those seeking interest in art.
Nyle Arthur Switzer 18 of Orono was pronounced dead on arrival at St Michael's Hospital after a Bayview extension crash. He was walking to his brother Edward’s stalled car when struck by a vehicle driven by 52 year old Frederick George Thomases of Etobicoke. Thomases faces negligence charges.
Albert E Morton died suddenly on October 28 at his Clarke Township farm where he lived most of his life before moving with his wife Hazel to Orono. He served as councillor and deputy reeve, directed Maple Leaf Farmers Mutual Insurance for 26 years, and was an active member of the Durham Agricultural Society Loyal Orange Order Royal Black Preceptory and Cronos United Church. Funeral October 31 at Cronos United Church conducted by Rev. B. Lowe. He leaves widow Hazel Lowery daughter Adele (Mrs. Andrew McGill) son Richard two granddaughters sister Mary (Mrs. J. H. Morris) and brother George.
The Durham County Liberal Association announces its Annual Meeting will be held in Orono on November 23, 1959. Elmore Scott of Hope Township is the incumbent President. Officers will be elected, and a proposed amendment would appoint a Director of Organization to guide activities supporting Liberal candidates. Royce A. Frith of Toronto, Vice-President of the Ontario Liberal Association, will be the guest speaker.
The November meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union included hymns led by Mrs. Walsh and piano by Mrs. Sutton. Mrs. Rowe spoke on Francis Willard, and cards for sick and bereaved members were reported. Medals and judges papers for the November 27 public speaking contest were purchased. A proposal to hold December as a Christmas Party was approved with Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Rowe in charge of the program.
Bowmanville Recreation Department invites all interested individuals to a special meeting about joining a pig drama workshop. Registrations are to be accepted at the event and details provided for participants.
All members assisted with the lunch after singing. Mrs. Walsh led the group in closing prayer to end the meeting.
A series of meetings set for Thursday November 19 at 7 45 pm in the Bowmanville Lions Community Centre 25 Beech Avenue to discuss stage movement lighting direction and other production elements. Interested people are invited to attend.

The Purebred Holstein herd of J T Brown Newcastle sold for 74000 dollars at Oakville auction, about 100 cattle and calves included. top price for a female Browview Veeman Imogene, sold to Guinte District Artificial Unit. The Orono show at Hays Arena, Oakville, averaged 820 dollars per head.
Oshawa officials consider admitting 55 more pupils from Darlington Township for next year. OCVI and OCCI principals warn of double shifts and overloaded classes if accommodation is denied. A meeting was called with the Durham County District High School Board to discuss relief.
