Orono Welcomes New Metal Work Plant Move

The Metallic Art Products Co. moves from Newcastle to Orono occupying the frame mill of R. R. Waddell. Neilson, previously with Carl Wyerich, will manufacture copper ware, tool chests, electric fryers and other metal goods. The plant awaits power hookup. Neilson plans residence with Mrs. Neilson in town.

Orono Poultry Market Promises Prizes and Local Support

The Orono Chamber of Commerce sponsors a December 22 poultry market with prizes funded by Picker ing Farms totaling 15.00. Goose turkey and chicken varieties to be judged, with 3.00 and 2.00 prize amounts per variety, exhibitors must enter at least ten birds and be ready for judging by 10 a.m.

Canadian Holsteins Lead Wisconsin Sale Display

Thirty-two Holsteins from five Canadian provinces averaged 733 dollars at the Blue Ribbon Sale in Waukesha Wisconsin on November 9, the continental record sale average at 718 dollars for 64 head. Top price reached 2300 dollars for Abegweit Siparkee consigned by J Walter Jones. Curtiss Candy Co. bought several top animals. A two month old Montvic Posich Bonheur son sold for 1750 dollars to A C Oosterhuis. The U S National Sale the next day was led by Strathmore Double Prince at 510 dollars for the bull and a 410 dollar bid for a two year old Carnation Governor Invincible daughter from Rockwood Holstein Farms. Two Montvie Hiemke Pietje offspring from Cedar Dale Stock Farms sold for 6500 dollars at a prior dispersal. One calf went to Glenn L Bancroft in Michigan and another to W J Lanfman in Ohio. The piece closes with a remark about Italian soldiers under British command.

Clarke Township and Newcastle backed the Third Victory Loan raising nearly 16000 in three weeks. The breakdown shows 253 bonds issued in denominations of 50 and 100 with highest single bond 5000. Subscriptions spanned five districts plus banks and specials, highlighting the crucial impact of small bonds and urging preparation for the next loan.

Toronto Star Reporter Faces Defence Regulation Prosecution
