Ontario Hydro lowers rural power charges across province
Ontario Hydro and the Ontario Government announce a uniform rural rate effective January 1. About 129 000 of 133 000 rural users will gain, with average bills in high rate districts dropping from 4.31 to 2.74 dollars and rural farm charges eliminated or reduced. The new four cent first block, 1.6 cent second block, and 0.75 cent thereafter per kWh apply with 10 percent prompt payment discount.
