Clarke Township Council conducts meeting and authorizes tenders

Clarke Township met November 3 with full council. The clerk was instructed to call for tenders for buildings on township property and to insure the township building in Orono. Bills approved include taxes, salaries, juror fees, sheep killed by dogs, printing, care of town hall, and a hospitalisation share. Victory Loan Parade Draws 3000 Troops in Kingston

Suing Chief Draper For $83 000 Damages

A claim filed at Osgoode Hall Toronto on Friday October 30 seeks 883,419.80 dollars in damages against Chief Constable Dennis C Draper for four people injured in a Highway No 2 collision near Newtonville on September 28 1941. The suit is by F Erichsen Brown on behalf of Ada Miller Lillian Schneider Ethel Miller and the estate of Burton Miller who died July 13 1942.

Victory Loans Concerts Thank Local Support

The Public Relations Committee extends thanks to all who helped with the Victory Loans concerts at Orono Town Hall and Newcastle Community Hall. Orono proceeds totaling 201.05 were handed to the Orono Red Cross to fund comfort bags for sailors. Newcastle receipts were 11.37. Total expenses included printing, postage, and advertising.
