Sunday visitors gather as Bert Bostock rests in town. Mrs. Lewis Little and several neighbors recover from illness. A string of visits occurs across Colborne Colborne and Oshawa. The W I meeting covers charity work and a Fatship paper on Buyman ship with a lesson on homemade clothing and fabrics.
Many relatives attended the funeral of the late Mrs. John McKay on Saturday. The community sends sympathy to the McKay family in their bereavement. Mrs L Lytle Kendal, ill, moved to daughter Mrs Percy Farrow’s home. Listings show Mr and Mrs Jim Stark and Don na with Mrs J B Stark and others in Uxbridge. Families named include Geo Etwell and Mrs G Silver, Harold Lytle Kendal, Percy Farrow, Russel Lavery, A Muldrew, Elizabethville, Morris of Toronto, Beulah Hallowell and S G Hallowell, Wm Lavery and daughters Mrs Alex Barclay and Mrs Charles Yule in Oshawa.
Glad to hear Helen Get lick is improving. Mr and Mrs E Farrar and others attended church services. Velma Cowan left her job at C Billing’s and is at home. Sammy Seymour won a gold medal at the Musical Festival. Mrs Leslie Reid underwent appendicitis surgery. Ivan Farrow and others hosted visitors over the weekend, with Mary visiting on the Fourth.
Mrs W of Ranton and Mrs Lorne Robbins visit in Smiths Falls as Toronto residents Mr and Mrs A Godwin spend the weekend at their summer home. Van Allen and Mrs H L Morgan of Toronto call on local friends. Henry Cornish family visit his mother Mrs W Cornish, while Mrs D Bell returns from wintering with daughter Mrs A Lomas. Lomas accompanies her home with Mrs Bell. Stanley Martin Ella Byam of Claremont visit with Ted Martin Lockharts Velma Martin and Clarence Martin on Sunday.
Mrs William Seymour thanks neighbors and friends for kindness during illness caused by an accident.
Allied air forces claim victory as they shoot down six hundred German planes over a five day period. Strategic bombing and escort missions disrupted enemy air power and protected advancing ground forces.
