Ernie Dent, an Orono native and former Midland Regiment member, arrived home after nearly five years abroad. He traveled from England to Canada via Toronto and Oshawa, then stayed with Mrs. Ed Davey in Leskard. Dent served with the 1st Canadian CR E's from May 1940, fought in France Belgium and Holland, was injured in Holland, and returned to Canada.

Junior honors went to Bruce Cook and Alvin Drew. A farmers meeting and a church banquet capped the event with address by Dr G P McRostie and others.

Red Cross to Send 120000 Parcels Weekly
Red Cross headquarters in Toronto reports sending one hundred twenty thousand parcels weekly to prisoners of war. Each parcel includes milk powder butter cheese corned beef pork luncheon meat salmon sardines raisins prunes sugar jam biscuits chocolate salt and pepper tea onion salt. Cost to deliver per prisoner is about $2.75 with a goal of one parcel weekly per prisoner.
