The Durham County Junior Farmers held their annual banquet and meeting Friday at Oddfellow's Hall Orono. Guest speaker G N Hawn of Kemptville Agricultural School spoke on Are You Listening. Bill Tomlinson was installed as president with a slate including Harold Yellowlees secretary Pat Carruthers and others. A bus trip to Toronto Channel 9 TV was announced for March 21.

Mission Band Meeting At Orono United Church
Fifteen Explorers and Tyro group members attended a regular Wednesday afternoon session at Orono United Church. Mrs. L. Aslett helped as the meeting opened with the Mission Band Hymn and Purpose. Dorreta Challice presented a story while Donna Gilbank played a piano solo. Elaine Forrester led the prayer before the scrapbook activity.

Easter Seal Campaign Opens in Ontario for Crippled Children

Service Club men across 226 communities organize fund raising and build personal bonds with the children. Moose Hunt Yields Record Kill in Lindsay District 1961
In 1961 the Lindsay Forest District saw more moose hunted and killed than in the prior three seasons. Of 587 hunters, 172 succeeded for a 29.3 percent rate, with 62 adult bulls, 22 male and adult cows, and 387 calves reported. The 1960 season had lower hunter numbers but higher success. Best moose areas included Bruton Eyre Glamorgan Guilford and Havelock townships.

Orono Atoms Seek Final Ontario Title

Leskard School Tops 1962 Kiwanis Music Fest Awards

Liberal Plan Outlined by R C Honey at Orono Meeting
Liberal candidate for Durham County R C Honey spoke at the Clarke Township Liberal Association meeting in Orono. He outlined a contributory Old Age Pension plan with a monthly minimum of 75 dollars, funded by worker and employer contributions, and argued it would not raise taxes. He contrasted Liberal policy with Conservative plans and urged support for Liberalism.

Orono High School Glee Club organized the St Patrick’s dance at Town Hall last Friday. Students in green enjoyed music by Wayne Kennedy and the Offsetters, with square dancing added after years.
