The Orono Figure Skating Club invites all interested residents to attend its annual meeting at the Orono Municipal Building on Wednesday June 8 at 8 00 PM. The notice urges participation from everyone interested in figure skating in Orono.
The Tyke Baseball Club will canvas the Village until Monday June 6 for a donut sale to raise funds for ball equipment.
The Senior Citizens group meets in Oddfellows Hall on June 2 at 7:30 PM. All welcome to attend.
At the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority May meeting, John Hubicki of Totten Sims Hubicki & Associates said reconstruction costs for both river walls opposite Port Hope's proposed centennial park using gabion baskets total about 29,800, with reinforced concrete at 28,500. He noted added items since the project began and doubts about gabion durability in spring ice. Mayor Robert Everson attended the session.
Port Hope authority approves river wall project amended to west side only. Project cost around $19,000 with provincial grants covering 50 percent and local share capped at $1,000. Tenders to be called with a June 15 deadline. Land owner Joe Palace asked to clear east bank side concurrently.
