If responding outside Orono during a fire, the brigade should return to serve in Orono. The secretary was told to ask the Road Superintendent to prepare Millson's bridge for water supply and to set gate and log placements with Millson's permission.

Durham Junior Farmers Tie With Hastings For Cup
Durham and Hastings share the District Cup at the Quinte District Field Day held at the School for the Deaf in Belleville on July 22. The Durham boys won their opener 40 to 10 over Victoria County, then fell 15 to 11 to Peterborough County in the final. Durham girls beat Victoria County 15 to 11 in their first game but lost 13 to 8 to Hastings in the final. Track winners included Roy’s events with Alec Martin, Newton Selby, and a relay team. Kendal Field Day Brings Large Turnout to Local Sports
A busy Kendal field day drew a large crowd for two hardball games, a girls softball match, and an old time barn dance at Mercer's barn. Crono beat Kendal 13 to 0 with Cornish allowing only one hit. Newtonville topped Orono 3 to 1 in girls softball. Newcastle defeated Kendal 10 to 6 in the final game, with West and Cornish pitching. Ruth Wilson and her orchestra provided the evening entertainment for dancers reaching capacity.

Joint Church Service in Orono Park Draws Hundreds
An open air service sponsored by United Churches of Orono and Newcastle and the Orono Band was held at Orono Park on Sunday evening July 27. About three hundred people attended after local church services and meals, with attendees from nearby districts including Toronto and Detroit. The Rev. John Kitchen led the service and Rev. Lawrence Turner spoke on Eternal Life from the Rich Young Ruler narrative. The Orono Band conducted by Milton Tamblyn supplied music, with a community sing led by Turner and W E C Workman at the organ. Public address was aided by Ted Woodyard, the organ loaned by Mr and Mrs Robt Hancock, and Park authorities plus church officers coordinating the event.

Lucille Lynch, fourteen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs William Lynch of Woodbridge, was injured diving at the mill dam last Thursday. A head gash required twenty five stitches at Brampton hospital. X rays revealed a chipped bone in her back. no cast is needed but she must remain on her back for a week.
